Football Fever Spreading Fast…

As I flicked through, browsing the TV channels languidly one night, the same, monotonous (As I am not exactly a footie freak it didn’t particularly excite me to see Spain verses Chile again…) football match flashed across the screen for at least the umpteenth time. The miniature footballer with his opponent sallying with immeasurable force, racing rapidly onwards to the white speck of the ball attempting to score a goal, the other team members splayed all over the field, their vibrant red, white and yellow emphasizing greatly from the lush, green field, the exhilarated commentator shouting out rhapsodies of  the winning team, the millions of spectators caked together, the sun gently ironing their heads, grew fizzed up madder than ever like active volcanoes- some waving colorful and encouraging posters, some cheered on top of their voices like furious lions, some smothered their faces with the colors of the team they are supporting..

The noise, the excitement, the rapture, the thrill was almost inexplicable. But Brazil is almost in the other end of the world…

People on the Eastern Hemisphere could’ve groped around without all the anticipation. But football fanatics of all ages (Yes, even toddlers following their father’s intentions) take all the trouble searching vigorously through  many programmes for any football match to conjure up on the television screen, humming the catchy tune of Shakira’s “La La La” the theme song for Brazil’s sixth World Cup.  A few, turned their living room (whether small or big) to an actual football field. (It is true, you won’t believe it!).  A handful of shopping malls nowadays display a ginormous projector in food courts where you can view while you dine! Many labourers, abandoning their good shut eye time, hustle around any 24 hour catering café (which probably would have a television) at midnight to one in the morning (after their work of course) carrying chairs, a sitting on the pavements, munching provisions—watching a football match LIVE..

Many other people (partly crazy of football, partly not) like me are really eager to know who is winning—Argentina or Spain, or is it Brazil or Ecuador??
