Football Fever Spreading Fast…

As I flicked through, browsing the TV channels languidly one night, the same, monotonous (As I am not exactly a footie freak it didn’t particularly excite me to see Spain verses Chile again…) football match flashed across the screen for at least the umpteenth time. The miniature footballer with his opponent sallying with immeasurable force, racing rapidly onwards to the white speck of the ball attempting to score a goal, the other team members splayed all over the field, their vibrant red, white and yellow emphasizing greatly from the lush, green field, the exhilarated commentator shouting out rhapsodies of  the winning team, the millions of spectators caked together, the sun gently ironing their heads, grew fizzed up madder than ever like active volcanoes- some waving colorful and encouraging posters, some cheered on top of their voices like furious lions, some smothered their faces with the colors of the team they are supporting..

The noise, the excitement, the rapture, the thrill was almost inexplicable. But Brazil is almost in the other end of the world…

People on the Eastern Hemisphere could’ve groped around without all the anticipation. But football fanatics of all ages (Yes, even toddlers following their father’s intentions) take all the trouble searching vigorously through  many programmes for any football match to conjure up on the television screen, humming the catchy tune of Shakira’s “La La La” the theme song for Brazil’s sixth World Cup.  A few, turned their living room (whether small or big) to an actual football field. (It is true, you won’t believe it!).  A handful of shopping malls nowadays display a ginormous projector in food courts where you can view while you dine! Many labourers, abandoning their good shut eye time, hustle around any 24 hour catering café (which probably would have a television) at midnight to one in the morning (after their work of course) carrying chairs, a sitting on the pavements, munching provisions—watching a football match LIVE..

Many other people (partly crazy of football, partly not) like me are really eager to know who is winning—Argentina or Spain, or is it Brazil or Ecuador??

A Little Note to all our Chocolate-Sweet Fathers

A great supporting punching bag , a sparkling candle of encouragement, a lighthouse to help your way in life, a frequent adviser, a teacher, a forgiver, granting wishes, a never failing heart to never ever give up, always pert and full of lively spirit, a companion to go snuggle up with when you are sad, a close friend you can lean on, sometimes stern, striving to make us a successful person … a genuine, un-bogus hero in your life time… Who does all this remind you of? Hmmmm…..
Yes, Dad… Those special three letters can ignite the flame of unconditional love, brighten you up with that wonderfully light feeling as memories turn into a marvelous reverie. You can scream your worries to him, chase him around when happy, smuggle up some lies, transform into your true behavior, ask him silly questions, be free… what more?
Here are a few daughter’s who I can see adores their father’s….
Indira Gandhi- Chacha Nehru is really an inspiring father. The Letters From A Father To His Daughter were the letters send to his daughter with immense love when he was in jail. Chacha Nehru had developed Indira Gandhi’s interest in nature and taught her many values.
Anne Frank- Otto H. Frank a truly dear father to Anne had made a big influence in Anne’s life. He understood many things in Anne’s mind. But, because of Hitler’s raging anti-Jew restrictions, Otto Frank found a hiding place in his office. Anne wanted her diary published when the war was over. Sadly, she passed away ( after being captured) just three months short of her sixteenth birthday. To fulfill Anne’s wish, Otto Frank published her diary..
Me- He might be really busy
He might be exhausted and dizzy
       But the cheerfulness and friendliness
Can never be unraveled by tiredness
       His soft words and smile
Can be felt from a mile
       His stern advice
       Can stop all vice
And pull you along in the right way
Happy Father’s Day!!
